Repair - Taylor 214CE acoustic electric guitar Part 1

This guitar was brought to me crushed, the top completely pushed into the box. The damage was total and the only fortunate thing was that the neck avoided stress. I popped out the top some before I took photos, but there are 4 prominent cracks running the entire length of the top and the bracing had of course come loose. The finished photos are in part 2...

Repair - Kent KF-720 dreadnought acoustic guitar made in Korea 1970s Part 1

This job was a repair for someone who had tried to repair it themselves and had a lot of issues. So I was tasked to undo what had already been done and start over:

  • Tap truss rod back into proper position
  • Create custom string guide for zero fret
  • Removed bridge, cleaned off super glue, filed lower to improve action and screw holes filled with its own matching sawdust
  • Scraped and sanded bridge pad, filled and re-drilled 6 string holes for bridge
  • Re-glued bridge, correcting string spacing and alignment
  • Polished frets, rounded fretboard edges, cleaned & oiled rosewood
  • De-glossed back of neck with Scotch Brite pad
  • Minor cosmetic touch-ups with wood stain match pen
  • New Elixir strings 13 gauge with setup
