Wiring - Ibanez Talisman electric guitar made in Japan - Output jack grounding

This project was a situation where I was helping a fellow guitar guy, Joe T. aka: Dr. Frets, he had refretted the neck (and done a masterful job as always), but there was a few issues with the wiring.

A few solders later and all was well!

• troubleshoot & fix ground wiring issue
• replace output jack
• service potentiometers with deoxit
• turn it around quick to not delay the project for the customer

On this guitar it needed a few maintenance items taken care of and some tweaks to make it easier for the owner to change strings

• fix output jack issue
• adjust pickup height to even out sound difference in pickup input
• clean & polish frets
• fix grounding problems
• restring with Ernie Ball power slinky 11-62 gauge

Setup - Peavey EVH Wolfgang special electric guitar - Floyd Rose bridge

This job was brought to me by a really cool guy who needed this guitar setup to properly float so he could get some proper EVH dive bombs and squeals. He used to play in a band with Jeordie "Twiggy" White of Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails fame!

• setup Floyd Rose for floating action
• clean & maintain electronics
• clean & polish frets
• restrung with Ernie Ball 9 gauge

Fretwork - Concorde 1970s lawsuit acoustic guitar - Crowning & polish

• reshape and crown files
• clean fretboard
• file down & glue loose neck & body binding
• restring with Martin custom 10 gauge extra lights

Setup - Epiphone 435i made in Korea 1980s modded electric guitar - Bridge work

Cool Epiphone shredder from the 1980s, set neck design with a virtually identical layout and design to the Kackson soloist. It had been neglected for quite  afeew years and needed some attention.

• remove bridge and reset into body
• fix output jack and grouding wiring issues
• adjust truss rod to improve string relief
• clean & polish frets
• restring with Ernie Ball slinky 9 gauge

This is an interesting guitar. Epiphone's very literal take on the very popular at the time Jackson Soloist

Setup - Gibson Les Paul Studio electric guitar

Straight forward brand spanking new Gibson Les Paul studio model. Didn't need much just some minor tweaks and service to get it playing as sweet as possible

• lowered bridge to improve string action
• adjusted saddles for better intonation
• adjust truss rod to even out string relief
• file down a high fret that was causing buzzing
• restrung with Ernie Ball 10 gauge strings

Repair - Ukulele kit - Bridge reset

This project had been done by a client but the bridge was glued onto the paint and it popped off. I was tasked to put the bridge on so it would stay

• etch, file & sand bridge position on top
• sand bridge to fit
• glue and clamp bridge
• setup with new nylon strings
• resist temptation to play Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Repair - Peavey Predator electric guitar made in USA - Ground wiring

 

• Fix push pull pot grounding issues
• fix output jack wiring
• lower push pull and carve out cavity to make room for proper mounting of pot
• disassemble fine tune and lubricate vintage machine heads
• clean & polish frets
• restring with Ernie Ball 10 gauge
• setup action & intonation
