This amplifier was part of a pickup that was $200 for two guitars; one electric, one acoustic and the amp that came along with the electric guitar. Its a tube amplifier from the late 1960's. The plug on it was broken so I couldnt test it out first. The guy says he bought this amp when he was on a Navy ship stationed in Japan. It came with a red hollow body guitar Univox Effie model.
1 - 6x4 tube , 2 - 6bm8 tubes and 1 - 12ax7 tube
2 of the tubes looked to be original Japanese tubes (rare) and the other two were replacement USA made ones.
Before
Bad, old non-polarized/grounded plug
New updated 3-way power wiring with ground attached to the body and the death cap removed.
Fuse was bypassed with aluminum foil which is a BIG no no. The fuse is designed to prevent damage and potential fire to the appliance, bypassing it makes it a very real safety hazard. Replaced the fuse with new fuse from my electrical expert buddy Joe.
Needed to replace the volume potentiometer as it was very scratchy and potentially causing some noisy along the circuit. Audio taper pot with 500k omega value, purchased from ebay for around 5 bucks
