Repair - Soviet Era Acoustic guitar 1980's

This was a special repair as it was my girlfriend's Ella family guitar that all of the children learned to play guitar on. Unfortunately, the neck had broken into the body and needed to be removed and reset to playable shape, along with cleaning, detailing, setup and new strings. Its unique in its construction as it utilized a bolt on neck and a floating fretboard extension.

Open headstock, classical peg tuner style

You can see the grooves from fingernails and years of playing. This instrument is a generational one and has been passed down from father to daughter and will be passed down to her children.

Various pieces remaining from the break all of which need to be put back into the guitar.

The bridge utilizes a piece of fret wire for the saddle. It had become pitted and oxidized from time so I sanded, buffed and polished it.

Lots of clamping to repair and reseat the neck block which was partially broken and required fully breaking to be able to fix it properly.

I replaced the missing piece from the top...

and put two cleat underneath to make sure that it had plenty of structural stability

Touch-up time! Some of the paper rosette had been damaged so I found some of my son's markers and went to town trying to recreate of the of the patterns and colors.

Then I cleaned the tuning keys hardware to remove of the the rust and pitting

Repair - Univox U-45B Guitar Tube Amplifier made in Japan late 1960's Part 1

This amplifier was part of a pickup that was $200 for two guitars; one electric, one acoustic and the amp that came along with the electric guitar. Its a tube amplifier from the late 1960's. The plug on it was broken so I couldnt test it out first. The guy says he bought this amp when he was on a Navy ship stationed in Japan. It came with a red hollow body guitar Univox Effie model.

1 - 6x4 tube , 2 - 6bm8 tubes and 1 - 12ax7 tube
2 of the tubes looked to be original Japanese tubes (rare) and the other two were replacement USA made ones.

Bad, old non-polarized/grounded plug

New updated 3-way power wiring with ground attached to the body and the death cap removed.

Fuse was bypassed with aluminum foil which is a BIG no no. The fuse is designed to prevent damage and potential fire to the appliance, bypassing it makes it a very real safety hazard. Replaced the fuse with new fuse from my electrical expert buddy Joe.

Needed to replace the volume potentiometer as it was very scratchy and potentially causing some noisy along the circuit. Audio taper pot with 500k omega value, purchased from ebay for around 5 bucks
